José Alfredo Hernández for SAUSD
José Alfredo Hernández knows what’s going on in the Santa Ana Unified School District. Not only is he a shining success story of our schools, arriving as a non-English speaking youngster 29 years ago, but he and his wife served as substitute teachers and his children currently attend SAUSD elementary and high schools.
Having been an English Learner student, José Alfredo understands all the issues and struggles of immigrant families, and he has experienced the limitless potential of hard work and the good foundation given by the Santa Ana Unified School District. After moving into honors and then AP coursework, he graduated in the first class from Century High School and went on to UC Santa Barbara, UCLA and Whittier Law School where he was a Fellow at the Center for Children’s Rights.
Santa Ana is his home, and it is here that he established his law practice and began giving back to his community to help others fulfill their dreams. He was appointed to a vacancy on the SAUSD Board of Education in 2007 and elected President 11 months later.
On the Board of Education, José Alfredo Hernández has brought his professional expertise to wisely balance the financial responsibilities of the District with the competing needs of the many District stakeholders.
José Alfredo Hernández brings a much-needed professional insight to the decisions of the Board of Education. He alone can speak as a Santa Ana lawyer, a Santa Ana teacher, a Santa Ana parent and a former Santa Ana student.
Join us in electing José Alfredo Hernández to the Santa Ana Board of Education in November, 2008.
